Behind the Scenes: How I Make Resin Coasters
Ever wondered what goes into creating a piece of resin art? Today, I’m giving you a behind-the-scenes look into how I make one of my most popular products — resin coasters!
🧼 Step 1: Prepping the Mold
First things first: I clean and prep the silicone mold to make sure the surface is dust-free and ready for pouring. A smooth mold = a shiny finish.
🎨 Step 2: Mixing Resin
I mix equal parts of resin and hardener, carefully measuring everything. Then I stir — slowly — to avoid bubbles. Sometimes I add a few drops of pigment or glitter here too!
🌸 Step 3: Adding Elements
Now the fun begins! I pour a little of the resin into the mold and add pressed flowers, gold foil, or color swirls. Each coaster is like painting a mini abstract art piece.
⏳ Step 4: Waiting Game
The resin needs to cure for 24-48 hours. This is the hardest part — waiting! But it’s so worth it.
🧽 Step 5: Demold & Polish
Once cured, I pop the coasters out of the mold and sand the edges if needed. Then I give them a light polish or a layer of topcoat for that crystal-clear shine.
🧡 Final Result
Each piece is unique, handcrafted, and made with care. That’s what makes handmade resin art so special.
